Album Of The Week.

JJ Grey and Mofro Orange Blossoms

It’s that time again… And with it being a crazy travel schedule as of late I’ve had even more time to zone out and listen to more new music. This week’s selection comes from JJ Grey and Mofro (can you think of a better band name than Mofro?) with their latest release Orange Blossoms. A thanks goes out to my Pops for introducing me to JJ Grey, as I don’t think I would of ever come across this amazing album without the heads up.

With some of the album’s tracks brining to mind the Allman Brothers, Delanie and Bonny, Dr. John, or the Black Crowes, but for me personally JJ Grey and Mofro remind me of a mix between two of my favorites, Amos Lee’s lyrics and Ray LaMontange’s soulful band. Overall Orange Blossoms is what most bar bands in the world think they sound like; but don’t. It’s down home, in the best sense, performed flawlessly, with an admirable disregard for fashion.

This week I’ve included two tracks from this disc to help you get the full effect of JJ Grey and Mofro.

As for me… Still locked indoors working and watching the waves crash on the rocks just outside our villa…
