I’m On A Boat!

Literally. I’m on a boat for two weeks researching whales. Posts and pics to come soon. Just an update to let you all know we are still alive. Good day.

Not really even sure with what to say about M.J. passing today… The legend will be extremely missed… R.I.P. to the King of Pop.

Side Note: We head off to the Stradbroke Island in the morning for a two week field trip that will include a lot of whales. More info soon.

Transformers + Album of The Week.

Growing up I was more of a G.I. Joe fan but today we went to see Megan Fox 2…I mean Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen and let me tell you, there is no way the new Joe movie also coming this summer stands a chance against this flick. Even with Michael Bay at the helm of this one, with all the slow-mo and explosions, its something else. Nonetheless the movie continues right where the last one left off and never slows down the action. Great movie, but honestly anything Ms. Fox does will get two thumbs up from every guy on the planet…But I’m sure most of you will be going down to the theaters yourselves this weekend to catch what is sure to be this summer’s biggest hit, so enjoy.

Moving along to the current disc that is on repeat… Mos Def: The Ecstatic. Recently I’ve been in more of an underground hip-hop mood and this album flat out amazing for that. Nearly five years since his last effort, Mos brings out some nice eastern-style samples and weird guitar riffs. Overall the samples make the album feel more abstract and unique and I think that’s when Mos is at his best. Where I Rested: Court’s Parents, Brisbane

State Of Origin.

Last night is considered one of the biggest of each year in Oz, as it was the State of Origin. You’re probably asking yourself “what’s this now?”… Well the State of Origin is an annual best-of-three series of rugby league football matches between the Maroons, representing the state of Queensland, and the Blues, representing the state of New South Wales. The State of Origin series is one of Australia’s and the region’s premier sporting events, attracting a huge television audience and selling out the stadiums in which the games are played. The State of Origin series has the reputation as the toughest, hardest-fought rugby league matches played anywhere in the world… With saying all of that we had about ten of our “mates” over to watch the game, of course we were all wearing our Maroon and cheering on Queensland.

Queensland did indeed win just as they did the last time I watched the Origin, which was in 2006 from an Australian pub in London. But with this win Queensland captured a record fourth series in a row… All in all it’s been quite entertaining trying to learn the popular sports here and we seem to be catching on fast, or everyone is just being very nice to us.

Side Note: We also taught the Aussie’s little game ourselves last night… Beer Pong.
