Album Of The Week.

After a few days of thunderstorms we finally got some sun and I took full advantage by blogging outside. This lasted for about seven minutes before the rain was back, but it was nice to get the Ray-Ban’s on for few… Other than that I haven’t really had time to do anything else, as I have been writing for five of our blogs this week…. So I am now well versed in the worlds of fashion, music, travel, movies and Beyonce. What was my post about yesterday again??? And since I’ve been spending countless hours on my computer writing and researching, I’ve had a ton of time to truly listen to my new music. Thus I have decided to add a new feature to this blog. Each week I’m going to do a post on a new “Album of the Week” and give you all a link to listen along. At my current pace I’m downloading (legally) and listening to about four to five new albums a week and I wanted to share with my readers some new tunes in hopes you will enjoy my selection as well. However with an audiophile and having my taste in music branch out to almost everything under the sun, I’m sure some of you will find my choices rather obscure at times. However my main goal is to hopefully share something new with you, so without further ado, I give you my first selection for Album of the Week.
Ben Harper & Relentless7: White Lies for Dark Times
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
This being the ninth studio album from Ben Harper and his first with the band Relentless7. White Lies For Dark Times is a timeless Rock record, with a cohesive collection of music that is as raw, unrelenting and thunderous, as it is arrestingly haunting and emotional. Thought it took two spins for me to really enjoy this album, it has now been on repeat for a couple days as Ben’s voice gets me every time… Adding that with the great blues/rock sound from the band makes for one great record. To listen to more of the album click the artwork above.
Side note: Each Album of the Week will also be listed in the right column for easy access to see what I’m listening to as well as a link out to give the album a listen yourself.

The Best Job in the World?

So, I’m not sure if this news has made it back to the states, but it is pretty big news over here. Here is the run down of the supposed “Best Job in the World“.
“The new hire will get to live in a fantastic house on a paradise island in Australia’s Great Barrier Reef for six months and get paid $110,000 to do it. The only requirement: write a weekly blog. The job requirements are quite simple: The ability to speak English and swim.”
Although this contest is part of a publicity stunt to drum up tourism in Northern Australia I’m not to sure that it’s the best job in the world…. I mean six months on one island, not going anywhere else? How about six months across Asia, learning new languages and cultures? Visiting countless countries and eating exotic foods… I think they had this contest all wrong. So I’m just going to call it, The Second Best Job in the World, as JK and I already have the first. Watch out for Blog Craver Media, it’s starting to snowball.

Phuket.
Not really much to report here in Phuket. I made this journey down the left coast of Thailand in hopes of meeting up with some friends on their honeymoon. But due to some things out of their control, their trip was put on hold. However it has been a blessing in disguise and allowed me to literally lock myself in my room and work 12+ hour days. After a stop at 7-Eleven to stock up on snacks and water I’ll be set for the week. But I’m sure I’ll have to mix in a walk on the beach every couple of hours, as it is only a 2 min walk away…

Business Travel.
Waking up early from yet another hotel to catch yet another flight, I started thinking… I’m really starting to learn about what it means to be a business traveler. As a child I never got it… Always thinking that with my Mother must of been having the time of her life traveling the world on business trips. But I’m starting to realize that’s not always the case… Now don’t get me wrong, seeing all of these cites and sights has been one of the major highlights of my young life (like how I snuck that word young in there), but it can be tiring and I’m starting to feel the effects…
Off to Phuket… Wish me luck.

BKK.

Back in Bangkok this early morning fighting off the what was left of the Khaosan Road drunks and ladyboys to get to my hotel… You’ve got to love Thailand.
With it being Saturday, I took some time to visit the Weekend Market, as I hadn’t been in three years. Yes, it looks completely the same, but the clothing seems to be the thing that has been updated with time. I went looking for the ever elusive “I heart the King” shirt that I missed out on in ’06 but again to no avail.
Being tired of Thai food and some what lazy I stepped out for lunch to a trusty KFC. Now, they have a completely Asianized menu of course but they still have a few basics, like chicken. [Side note: I realized today that its been almost two months since I've eaten beef. Seeing that was a huge part of my diet the past 25 years, I've found it to be a nice change.] But getting to my point. The meaning of the word “Line” (to my Commonwealth readers “Queue”) has yet to hit the masses. Already knowing this fact I try and fight my way to the front but no, I literally have to wait for everyone else in “line” to go ahead first… It’s hard to grasp the thought that some people just don’t understand this thing called common sense… I’m not putting down this culture by any means because I love learning about it, I’m just stating that every once in a while I’d like to see them learning mine as well. Sharing is caring.

AirAsia.com

Since I have been plugging products lately I might as well give a huge shout out to the one and only extremely inexpensive Asia airliner, Air Asia. Time and time again these guys come trough with unbelievable prices including: $11 to Langkawi (Upcoming May Flight), $15 to Bali (Upcoming May Flight), $115 to Melbourne (Upcoming June Flight) and today $30 to Bangkok. So if anyone is looking to do some country hopping while they are out in Asia check AirAsia.com out as it is usually the same price as taking an overnight bus/train, just without all the hassle. (You’ve seen the videos on this site, no more of walking back to my bed to find people sleeping in it.)
47 Kilos.

Who knew… Who knew that having 47 Kilograms walk up and down your back and the beat crap out of you for an hour would solve all of your problems, oh and a little bit of Tiger Balm too…. What a difference 24 hours makes! Finding out that not only does Tiger Balm fix all muscle aches but it’s also this magical balm that fixes bug bites, bad eye sight and crooked teeth. This all mixed with a 250B Thai Massage as the sun was setting… I feel like a Justin…ready to conquer Bangkok all over again. Until then…I bid you a good day.
Hmmm.
This post is going to be cranky, well because, I’m as crabby as you can get right now…so feel free to go another fun post if you don’t want to hear me complain. Here, this is a great post….
OK… So I’m officially fed up with the bug bites… I don’t get it… I put on deet spray and they eat right through it. But the best part is that they only go to town on my hands, knees, elbows and feet… Joint skin seems to be their game, and I’m not having any of it… I’ve lost count of the bites after I hit 50… Sigh… I know… I know, I know… There are so many bigger problems going on around the world and the one thing I have to complain about is bug bites… I’m sorry, but like I said I’m just crabby today…
Back to work on a new top secret project….
The Office.
If it makes anyone feel better, I’m completely burnt all over because of this… Trying to sleep has not been fun. But at the same time, I seemed to be extremely efficient at work today…
